Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-game winless streak across all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” the club said in a statement, one day after a 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Reserve-team boss Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge.
Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, was Juventus’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former centre-back for the club, he spent nearly a decade in Turin, winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final.
After guiding Juve to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season, Tudor’s second campaign began brightly with three straight wins. But results quickly unraveled, with five consecutive draws followed by three defeats in a week to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio.
Following the Lazio loss, Tudor admitted: “We prepared well, but we’re still missing something. There’s no need to dramatize — we’re all responsible for this difficult period.”
It marks Juventus’s earliest managerial change in a season since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced by Ercole Rabitti. The Bianconeri, who have failed to score in their last four matches, sit eighth in Serie A, six points adrift of leaders Napoli ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Udinese.
