An international jury, led by Garrick Ohlsson, selected 11 virtuosos to advance to the final stage of the 19th Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. Poland’s Piotr Alexewicz stands as the country’s sole representative in the upcoming performances.
The global classical music community now turns its attention to Warsaw, where the finalists will compete for one of the most coveted honors in piano performance. Established in 1927, the Chopin Competition remains a cornerstone of musical excellence, devoted exclusively to the works of Fryderyk Chopin.
Global Pianists Prepare for the Final Performance
The finalists include Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States), alongside Poland’s Piotr Alexewicz.
Each artist will open with Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, before performing a piano concerto — either in E minor, Op. 11, or F minor, Op. 21 — with the National Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Andrzej Boreyka.
The final sessions will take place from October 18 to 20, beginning at 6 p.m. each evening, drawing audiences from across the globe.
Champion Pianist to Claim Gold and Glory
The top prize winner will receive a €60,000 award and a gold medal, marking their place among the most celebrated interpreters of Chopin’s music.
For the 11 finalists, the upcoming performances represent not only a competition but also a defining moment in their musical journeys. As Warsaw prepares to host the final notes of this year’s event, the world waits eagerly to see who will emerge as the next great Chopin master.
