Manchester City made a huge Premier League title statement with a dominant 3-0 win over Liverpool, closing the gap to leaders Arsenal to four points.
Despite Erling Haaland missing an early, controversial penalty, he soon made amends by heading in his 19th goal of the season. Nico González doubled the lead after a deflection off Virgil van Dijk, before Jérémy Doku sealed the victory with a brilliant curling strike.
Liverpool briefly thought they’d equalised through Van Dijk, but VAR ruled it out for offside against Andy Robertson. From then on, City were in complete control, with Doku’s dazzling display tearing Liverpool apart.
The win marked Pep Guardiola’s 1,000th game as a manager and reinforced City’s determination to chase Arsenal in the title race, while Liverpool suffered their fourth straight away league defeat.
